Driving to work at night, I listen to football (American football) on the radio whenever there’s a game on. I’ve noticed lately that Barbasol is advertising on the NFL games.

Now, I thought Barbasol was about as dead as Burma-Shave. I like their old-time ads, there’s a graphic from one on a header here- the girl rubbing the guy’s face while they play croquet or whatever it is. Nice gams on her.

Some Googling revealed that the owners are taking a new interest in reviving the brand. Good for them.

I don’t think they have a prayer of competing with Gillette or Edge, and they shouldn’t try for that market. The radio jingle that contains the title of the post is a distinctly country/western twang kind of sound. Going after the rural white demographic is probably smart.

Edit: Ohhhhhh, David Cook is an American Idol winner. That explains why I never heard of him.
