Procter and Gamble buys Art of Shaving
The big news in wet shaving this week is the acquisition of high-end brand Art of Shaving by middlebrow marketing giant Procter and Gamble.
As Art of Shaving has been pimping chrome-plated Fusion handles for a while now, this isn’t a wholly-unlooked for development.
What remains to be seen is how this merger will change AOS. While I don’t use it, their tallow-based soap has many loyal devotees. Tallow is in the crosshairs of many top companies these days. Will P&G continue the formulation of AOS soap?
If you’ve been considering an AOS purchase, or live near one of their brick and mortar locations, now would be the time to act or check out the store.
Then you’ll be in a position to watch for changes in a wet shaving flagship brand.

I definitely hope they don’t cut back on their product line, as they had a bunch of unique things that smaller, more boutique companies didn’t carry, and the big companies couldn’t be bothered to make (i.e. some of the travel goods, etc.). On the plus side, their distribution might increase now. No more driving miles and miles to get good shaving supplies.
