Wet Shaving in the Movies: Gran Torino

There being a gap in football coverage last night, my wife and I took in Clint Eastwood’s new movie Gran Torino.

In my pre-shavegeek days, I never would have noticed, but there’s a scene in which Eastwood’s character asks his barber if he still remembers how to give a straight shave. While we don’t see the shave, the barber answers yes, he does, “let me just go heat up a towel.”

Later, Eastwood is taking a medal out of his old footlocker from the Korean War. You can see a puck of Williams shave soap in the bottom.
